Addressing Food Security in School-Aged Children – Feb 29

This one-hour webinar focuses on preventive care to address food security and strategies to improve dietary health outcomes for school-aged children. This webinar was designed for health center and health center look-alike staff. The webinar aims to increase the audience’s knowledge of and capacity to define food insecurity and how it presents in youth and families, describe programs and resources that can mitigate food insecurity for youth and families, and gain awareness of promising practice models for addressing food insecurity for youth and families in School-Based Health settings. 

Learning Objectives

  • Be able to define Food Insecurity and describe the ways in which it presents in youth and families.
  • Understand the consequences of food insecurity on youth physical and mental wellbeing and the importance of addressing food insecurity as a social driver of health.
  • Describe programs and resources that can mitigate food insecurity for youth and families.
  • Gain awareness of promising models for addressing food insecurity for youth and families in SBHC settings.
