This interactive session equips participants with essential skills to recognize and respond to behavioral crises using trauma-informed, neuroscience-backed strategies.
Attendees will learn to identify early signs of escalation—behavioral, emotional, and physiological—and apply the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Crisis Development Model to understand the stages of crisis escalation. The session emphasizes safety-first decision-making, highlighting when to seek additional support or emergency response.
Participants will practice verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques that respect individual dignity and are grounded in trauma-informed care . Strategies will be tailored for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) or those under the influence of substances. Finally, the session fosters effective collaboration across roles—including educators, clinicians, and law enforcement—to coordinate a cohesive, team-based crisis response.
