Summers County Schools welcomed representatives from the Marshall University School Health Technical Assistance Center (MUSHTAC), located within the Division of Community Health, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, and from the Bureau for Behavioral Health of the West Virginia Department of Health Services (WVDoHS). Attendees included Principal Hawkins of the Summers County Comprehensive High School, Superintendent Dr. Linda Knott, and board member Dr. Green. The team conducted a tour of the school, gaining insights into student support initiatives from the ESMH grant team and school faculty.

NuSkool directors Cindi and Derick Pugh, along with NuSkool ESMH Coordinator Summer Bivins, were present to discuss partnerships, highlight achievements, and acknowledge challenges encountered during the initial two years of implementation. Special shout out to Summer Bivins for the exceptionally well-organized grant activity binder, the best the state team has ever seen.

BBH & MUSHTAC learned about the unique programs and student supports in place at each of the four Summers County schools. The ESMH team outlined Summer plans, ESMH team responsibilities in school emergency and lockdown safety procedures, tracked progress toward grant objectives, identified student and staff accomplishments, and needs for the upcoming school year.

These schools and their ESMH grant partners are dedicated to making a positive impact on their communities by providing enhanced support to students and families.
