FMRS Summer Camp – Feelings Matter and So Do YOU

Aug 25, 2026 | News

FMRS Health Systems brought plenty of fun, energy, and meaningful growth to the season through its summer camps. The community came together in a wonderful way to support the students who took part this year. Special thanks go to Kroger, Qdoba, Raleigh County Parks and Recreation, the Sanitary Board, and the Solid Waste Authority. Their partnership with FMRS helped make every minute of camp valuable and memorable for the young participants.

Staff guided campers using thoughtfully designed curricula focused on understanding and positively managing big emotions. Campers practiced skills such as problem-solving and knowing when to take space or step away when feelings became overwhelming. At the same time, they deepened their awareness of the world around them and their own place within it.

Older campers enjoyed a full 4-hour program each day, filled with engaging lessons, hands-on experiments, field trips, time in nature, and opportunities to explore both the world and themselves. Younger campers joined for 2 hours daily, where they focused on recognizing different emotions and learning how to be a good friend—even when dealing with difficult feelings.

It was a summer of discovery, connection, and growth for everyone involved.
