Marshall University School Health TA Center’s Tiffany Pittman, MA, LPC, AADC, represented the Division of Community Health at the 2023 WV School-Based Health Center Conference in Oak Hill, WV on June 8th. Tiffany and her colleague, Garrett Keefer, MPH from WV DHHR’s Bureau for Behavioral Health, presented to a room so full that it was standing room only. They shared information about the Expanded School Mental Health (ESMH) framework highlighting the model, opportunities for collaboration, and integration into school-based health centers.
During the second half of the presentation, current ESMH grantees engaged in a panel discussion. Panelists included Heather Sharp-Spinks – Camden Family Health, Sonnee Stanley – Minnie Hamilton Health Systems, Rachel Siggers – Williamson Health and Wellness Center. Each panelist described their greatest successes and challenges so far in ESMH, as well as how the program fits into the greater health center model.
