Myth, Interrupted: The Truth About Borderline Personality Disorder & Self-Harm

Mar 6, 2025 | Learning Opportunities

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) and self-harming behaviors are often misunderstood, leading to stigma, misdiagnosis, and ineffective support. This comprehensive virtual course is designed to change that by equipping health care providers, educators, and families with the knowledge, skills, and compassion needed to better understand and assist individuals struggling with these complex challenges.

Participants will explore the psychological roots of self-harm, learning to recognize warning signs and respond with effective, evidence-based interventions—such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, emotion regulation strategies, and harm-reduction techniques. Discussion will also address the importance of establishing healthy boundaries while maintaining a supportive and empathetic approach to avoid burnout and compassion fatigue.
