The Summers County ESMH coordinator, Summer Bivins of NuSkool Scholars, worked with students in grades K–5 from Hinton Area Elementary, Talcott Elementary, and Jumping Branch Elementary during a summer program. Using the evidence-based Skillstreaming program, she focused on building key social-emotional skills such as listening, sharing, and helping a classmate.
These lessons were brought to life through hands-on projects like making cloud dough and crafting bird feeders. At the end of the program, each student created a poster board showcasing their summer experiences and the valuable skills they had learned. It was a fun and rewarding summer filled with creativity, growth, and connection.
