Marshall University School Health Technical Assistance Center (MUSHTAC) in the School of Medicine’s Division of Community Health hosted a vendor table where we had the pleasure of meeting over 20 attendees for the Together We Thrive: Drug Prevention & Family Engagement event at Mountwest Community & Technical College on the evening of September 18th. This event was hosted by the Inspiring Dreams Network.
Participants learned how everyday items and subtle cues may indicate risky behavior, helping parents, educators, and community members recognize signs of potential substance use from Mingo County Prevention Liaison Joshua Murphy, were offered Narcan training via Prestera Health Services Outreach team and enjoyed SAMHSA’s ‘Talk. They Hear You.’ presentation to learn how early and consistent dialogue with youth can help shape healthier choices.
