Webster County High Hosts Suicide Prevention Activities

Nov 11, 2025 | News

Webster County High School hosted two suicide prevention activities focused on awareness, positivity, and community engagement. The events were organized by Amanda Skeens, Behavioral Health Educator at Camden Family Health. Both activities received positive feedback from students, staff, and community members. They helped foster a culture of kindness, inclusion, and awareness aligned with our grant’s goals for student well-being and social-emotional learning.

Chalk Walk with Affirmations

Positive affirmations and encouraging messages were written on the entry way and sidewalks leading up to the school doors to prevent suicide. Every student, staff member, and visitor entering the building walked over those words, reading them as they walked in. The goal was to promote hope, connection, and self-worth among our students while creating a visible reminder throughout the campus.

Suicide Prevention Walk

The school hosted a community walk to raise awareness about suicide prevention using their track. This event encouraged open conversations about mental health and showed students and staff that the school stands united in support of one another. The event was so well-received that there are many requests to repeat it next year. The Webster Echo published a full story about the event.
